During the Seventies, the well-known group Ermine Street Guard was the first society dedicated to the research and reconstruction of the Roman army. As they were the pioneers, we owe much to them. In the mean time, Roman re-enactment groups exist all over the world, even in places where Romans had never been. Flanders could not stay behind and since 2006 LEGIO XI CLAUDIA PIA FIDELIS brings the Roman military to life.
